Ruston, LA --- The Lady Tigers soccer team of Grambling State University suffered a 2-0 loss to neighboring Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters in a make-up game that was delayed August 28 due to inclimate weather.

GSU Head Coach Tamura Crawley said, “I thought that my team struggled. We have the skill level to compete with teams, but we make silly mistakes and we get scored on and we are unable to bounce back. The first half was unacceptable. We are trying to get ready for SWAC and that effort can't get us ready. The second half our mentality and game did pick up, but I feel it was too late. Louisiana Tech is a good team and I commend Kevin on organizing them defensively against us. We had a hard time once they decided to pack it in the back. Overall we still have a ways to go with 2 weeks left before conference play starts.”

The statistical leaders for Louisiana Tech were Kat McCullough and Rachel King. McCullough scored at the 14:07 mark on a penalty kick and King scored at the 41:53 mark when Abbie Lever found her in scoring position. Offensively the Lady Techsters fired off 25 shots and 15 of those were on the mark.

Statistically for the Lady Tigers Ashley Baker led the team with three shots and she was followed by Anita Dominique and Lynsey Carrier with a shot a piece.
Crawley stated, “Highlighted player for the game is Cherie Silas. She continues to save us over and over again. If it wasn't for her in the goal we would be in a lot of trouble. Her work ethic in the goal is unmatched and I just hope that it will rub off on some of her teammates.”
Silas defended the goal for the Lady Tigers and only allowed 2 goals while facing 25 shots with 15 SOG. She recorded 13 saves for the night.

Grambling State will be in action again on Friday when they travel to Texas to take on Texas State on September 18 in a game slated for a 7 pm kick off. They will then return home for action on Sunday September 20 to host the ladies of McNeese State in a 1 pm game.
