Grambling, LA---The Grambling State Lady Tigers Volleyball team provided another strong showing as they handed Southwestern Athletic Conference foe Mississippi Valley State a, 3-1, defeat in non-divisional volleyball action tonight in the Men’s Memorial Gymnasium on the GSU campus.
A rowdy crowd of 276 was on hand to watch the battle between two of the SWAC’s perennial powerhouses. They were not disappointed as the two schools battle valiantly tooth and nail throughout the night before the Lady Tigers emerged victorious.
Grambling started the night winning hard fought battles in set one 25-21 and set two 25-23. They suffered a setback in set three dropping a, 25-23, decision before finishing off the Devilettes in short fashion, 25-14, in set four.
GSU was led by Kayla Williams’ eight kills, seven digs and three assisted blocks and Ashley Cooper’s six kills and four digs. Showanna Davis added 11 kills.
The Devilettes Maura Moed had 13 kills.
The Lady Tigers will return to action Friday when they face Southeastern Louisiana in the Louisiana Tech Lady Techster’s tournament.
