Tiger Outgunned in Loss to Texas Southern

Grambling, LA---Grambling’s Lance Fuertado recorded a game high 23 points but the Tigers were still out gunned in a, 74-59, loss to the Tigers of Texas Southern.
 
Grambling opened the game with a 2-0 lead on a Kevin Lloyd jump shot but that would prove their last lead of the game. TSU quickly responded and pulled away as Junior Treasure was good for seven of their first nine points. TSU led by as much as eight late in the first half before Grambling closed to within 26-21 at the break.
 
GSU held close in the opening moments of the second half but with four players scoring in double figures Texas Southern gradually extended their lead to 22 at 60-38 with 7:03 to play. Grambling would manage a couple of mini runs and cut the lead to 68-57 but would run out of time and fire power in the game’s final minutes. 
 
Grambling’s Donald Qualls had 13 points with two assists; while Torez Young added seven points and four rebounds. Fuertado also had eight rebounds.
 
Treasure and Travele Jones had 19 points each to lead Texas Southern. Deandre Hall turned in a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Patrick Johnson had 10 points.
 
Grambling will return to action Monday night when they host the Panthers of Prairie View A&M in the Hobdy Arena.  Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
