Bombs Away as Lady Tigers Bring Lady Jags Streak to an End

Grambling, LA ---Kristen Harper went a perfect six-for-six from three-point range for 18 points to lead Grambling as the Lady Tigers handed the Southwestern Athletic Conference second place team Southern University a 69-58 loss before a raucous crowd of 2, 387 in the Fred C. Hobdy Arena.
 
Riding a seven game win streak the Lady Jaguars came into the game and jumped out to an early, 7-0, lead in the first two-minutes. The Lady Tigers however came back with a run of their own and took the lead 10-9 with 13:55 to go. The first continued in back and forth style that attributed to five ties and five lead changes with Grambling taking a 34-32 lead at the half on a Whitney Brown layup as time expired.
 
After being outscored by Southern’s bench 23-19 in the first half, the Lady Tigers came out on fire in the second half to the tune of a 26-5 advantage. The second half would mimic the first in the same back and forth style with the Lady Jaguars holding their last lead at 48-47 with 8:25 remaining as Grambling went up for good 49-48 on a Wyneishia Randle layup.
 
Along with Harper the Lady Tigers were led by Secrett Anderson’s 10 points and five rebounds. Randle and Ashley Cooper turned in nine points each. Rachele Dobbins had eight points, six rebounds and six assists.
 
Hannah Cador had game high’s of 21 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Jaguars. Ashley Augerson had 13 points.
 
The Lady Tigers will return to action Monday evening when they play host to the Lady Braves of Alcorn State at 5:00 pm in the Hobdy Arena.
