Grambling, LA---The Grambling State Lady Tigers basketball team extended their win streak to seven tonight in a, 60-54, win over the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State.
It was senior night for the Lady Tigers and their lone senior Ashley Cooper as they celebrated throughout the night. The Lady Tigers jumped out early and never trailed tonight as they made short work of their guests. In the first half the Lady Tigers scorched the nets shooting 49-percent while holding the Devilettes to 34-percent from the field en route to a 28-24 halftime lead.
In the second half the Lady Tigers held Valley at bay as they forced 23 Devilettes turnovers while recording 12 steals. The Devilettes shooting woes continued thanks to a stifling GSU defense finishing the game shooting a lowly 28-percent for the game.
Grambling (13-12, 10-6 SWAC) was led by Kristen Harper’s 13 points. Alexis Watson had 12 points and three steals while Secrett Anderson turned in nine points, four blocked shots and two steals.
Ashley Brown had a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead Valley. Lenise Stallings also had 11 points.
Grambling will return to action this weekend when they travel to Montgomery, AL to face the Lady Hornets of Alabama State.
