Lady Tigers Fall Short to Lady Braves

Grambling, LA --- The Grambling State Lady Tigers softball team rally fell short as they suffered a, 2-1, loss to Southwestern Athletic Conference eastern division leader Alcorn State today in nine innings at the Lady Tigers Softball Complex.
 
Down 1-0 through six and a half innings the Lady Tigers forged a rally in the home half of the seventh inning and tied the game when Latrice Woods scored on a Rosanna Alvarado single into right field to send the game into extra innings. After allowing the go ahead run in the top of the ninth the Lady Tigers staged another comeback attempt but fell short on a Lady Braves double play ending the game with runners on base.
 
The Lady Tigers had five to safely reach base with singles. On the mound Patrice Bailey suffered the loss after going nine innings allowing only run one earned run.
 
Shawna Bruton went two-for-four at the plate with a run scored to lead Alcorn. The Lady Braves had three others to record two hits each. Jennie Hatch picked up the win pitching a complete game without allowing an earned run.
 
Grambling will return to action tomorrow when they travel up the road to Ruston to take on the Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech.
