Grambling, LA --- The Grambling State Lady Tigers softball team dropped a heartbreaking, 5-4, decision to the Lady Lions of Southeastern Louisiana in their final home game of the season.

After seeing their first 10 batters retired the Lady Lions broke open a scoreless game when Katie Duhe hit a three-run home run over the left field fence to put the SLU up 3-0 headed into the bottom of the fourth.

The Lady Tigers responded quickly in their half of the fourth when Mikiesha Henson and Taylor Texada led off with base hits each and scored on a Taylour Smith double to left field. Grambling would then go ahead, 4-3, in the fifth inning when Henson doubled in Rosanna Alvarado and Latrice Wood.

Katelyn Thomason tied the game in the top of the sixth with a one out home run and the Lady Lions pushed across the winning run when Chelsea Takacs scored from third on an Amber Freeman single.

Henson led the Lady Tigers going three-for-four at the plate with two RBI’s and a run scored. Alvarado and Texada recorded two hits each. Brandi Payne went the distance on the mound recording the loss after giving up five earned runs.

Southeastern scattered six hits throughout six batters. Katie Morse picked the win in two and a third innings of relief work.
