Grambling, LA --- After finishing fourth in the 2009 campaign, it was no surprise to see that Grambling State, defensive end, Christian Anthony was a repeat as he was named to the watch list for the 2010 Buck Buchanan Award.

 

Anthony, a native of Birmingham, AL, led the conference with 55 solo tackles, forced fumbles (5) and fumbles during the 2009 season. Anthony was named to the 2010 Preseason All-SWAC team along with being named the 2010 SWAC preseason defensive player of the year.

 

Besides Anthony, others repeats on the list includes last year's runner-up, Eastern Washington senior linebacker J.C. Sherritt, Appalachian State senior strong safety Mark LeGree, who came in fifth, and Richmond senior defensive tackle Martin Parker, who came in 13^th in the voting last year.  Also, making the list is another SWAC player – Southern University senior free safety Jason House.

 

The Buchanan Award, sponsored by Fathead.com, is in its 16^th season. The award will be presented on Thursday, January 6, 2011 in Frisco, Texas. The Buchanan Award Watch List will undergo revisions

 during the 2010 season, with updated lists announced on October 4 and 25. Ballots will be sent to a panel of approximately 200 sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries after the regular season on November 22^nd.
