Grambling State quarterback Frank Rivers has been named the Heritage Sports Radio Network's (HSRN) Division I FCS National Football Player of the Week.
Fans from across the nation went online to vote on eight nominees for the award.
Rivers took 625 votes to capture the award. He was followed by QB Greg McGhee (Howard) with 518 votes, QB Damien Flemming (Florida A&M) with 133 votes and RB Isidore Jackson (Bethune Cookman) with 40 votes.
Rivers (6-5, 205), who prepped at Alabama's Fairfield High School, started for the Tigers last weekend and connected on 15-of-24 passes for 218 yards and two touchdowns while adding nine rushing yards as Grambling State took a 30-24 Homecoming win in overtime over Mississippi Valley State at Robinson Stadium.
