D.J. Williams named National Player of the Week

Freshman quarterback honored by Heritage Sports Radio Network

Grambling State University freshman quarterback D.J. Williams has been named the Heritage Sports Radio Network's Div. I FCS National Player of the Week following his efforts in last weekend's 29-25 win over Texas Southern.

Williams completed 14-of-19 passes for 253 yards and touchdowns of five, eight and 34 yards with the last being the game winner coming with 1:45 remaining in the contest to help the Tigers pull off the come-from-behind win.

He garnered 1,073 votes, easily outpacing quarterback David Blackwell of Bethune Cookman (739 votes), quarterback Casey Therriault of Jackson State (353) and quarterback Chris Walley of Norfolk State (14).
