GRAMBLING---
The Grambling State Tigers Outdoor Track team earned two spots in the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on the last day of the NCAA East Preliminary Round at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.

The Tigers received a superb performance by Akeem Williams in the 200 meters who finished second in heat four with a time of 21.03. Grambling's 4x100 team of Williams, Steven Baltazar, Shelton Keith and Deangelo Waller finished fourth in heat one (40.22) to qualify.

“I want to say congratulations to the guys for their performance last weekend and I'm proud that Grambling State is headed to Des Moines for the NCAA Championships,” said GSU head track coach Bertram Lovell. “They are a great group of guys. I'm pleased with their performance all year not just this past weekend but all year they've performed well and brought the championship (SWAC Championship) to Grambling and hopefully they will do exceptionally well.

“This is just a start, just a taste for them. Like a taste of honey and a bee they will want to go back,” Lovell added.

The Tigers will return to action at the NCAA Championships in Des Moines on June 8-11.
