Grambling, La (May 22, 2012) – The Grambling State University Athletic Department is pleased to announce that 151 of the university's student- athletes have been named to the President's List, Dean's List or the Honor Roll for 2012 Spring Semester, including 14 students with a perfect 4.00 grade point average.
Grambling State University Athletic Director, Dr. Percy Caldwell, praises the student-athletes for taking care of business in the classroom. “It is evident that the majority of our student-athletes are taking their education seriously and doing extremely well.” said Dr. Caldwell. “I'm proud to say to the student-athletes job well done.”
The GSU Athletic Department had 31 student-athletes participate in spring commencement exercises. The graduates represented nine separate athletic programs at Grambling State University. This is not only a personal achievement for each of the student-athletes, but it is also a positive reflection on the graduation rate of the department.
“Our graduation rate in the department is 61 percent over the last six years.” said Dr. Caldwell. “When you look at the number of student-athletes that are doing extremely well academically and the graduation rate, you see that the academic enhancement staff and the coaches are working together in doing a great job of emphasizing the value of education at Grambling State University.”
The department celebrated the achievements of its' graduates with a breakfast on the morning of graduation with staff, family and friends of the student-athletes.
