Tigers Dress in Shoulder Pads

Great day for GSU Tigers

Grambling, La. (August 4, 2012) – The Grambling State University Tigers reported for their third day of practice this morning and practiced in shoulder pads for the first time during fall camp.

Coach Williams said, “The good part about it is that we get to do some physical activities. It's not all out physical but physical nevertheless. The offensive line and defensive line didn't give me a lot of push up front and that's what we are looking for. “

Besides being the first day the Tigers wore shoulder pads, Coach Williams will be inducted into the Ark-La-Tex Sports Museum of Champions at 7:00 pm in the Shreveport Convention Center. Williams is one of five being inducted.

“This is a good day to be out here on this field and to be inducted into any Hall of Fame, but to be inducted into a Louisiana Hall of Fame like the Ark-La-Tex Sports Museum is a great feeling. Last night I got a chance to meet some of the inductees and some of the guys that have already been inducted already, it was a really good feeling,” said Williams.

GSU has several quarterbacks practicing in the fall camp, including D.J. Williams and Frank Rivers. Both saw strong playing time last season.

“I think all of them are coming along pretty good. They had a good spring and I feel pretty good about where they are right now. As long as we can keep them standing, I feel great about the quarterback position,” stated Coach Williams.
