Tigers Prepare for Alabama A&M

GRAMBLING (September 25th, 2012) - After a bye week, the Grambling State University (GSU) Tiger Football team is preparing for a big clash against the Alabama A&M Bulldogs this weekend in Huntsville, Alabama.  The last time that the two teams met was in the 2011 SWAC Championship game when the Tigers defeated the Bulldogs in an epic battle by the score of 16-15.

That game was a year ago, and the Tigers' full attention is on the game this Saturday at Louis Crews Stadium.   "We have a different team than a year ago," said Coach Doug Williams, during his weekly press conference.  "We have a lot of different players than we did last year, and they (Alabama A&M) have 19 starters returning.   Our attention is on the players that we have and getting them ready for Saturday."

This year the Tigers find themselves in a similar position as they were last season at this time; but, the Tigers are focused on the task at hand.  "We have had a tough few weeks, but that is behind us now," said Coach Williams.  "They (Alabama A&M) have a really good team this year, and I have a lot of respect for them.  In looking at the film, they have an aggressive defense, a great running game, with a senior quarterback and a good kicking game."

The game this weekend will be the start of a three game road trip for Grambling; which includes road trips to: Dallas, for the State Fair Classic against Prairie View; and to Itta Bena, to face the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils. Tickets are sale for the State Fair Classic at the GSU Ticket Office.  For more information on game tickets, call 318-274-2625.
