Johnathan Williams named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week

Williams Also Earns CFPA Performance Award.

Grambling, La. (November 4, 2013) – After a stellar performance against the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils this past weekend, Grambling Junior quarterback Johnathan Williams has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Player of the Week and has earned the College Football Performance Award this week .

Williams led the Tigers to their first win of the season after accounting for seven touchdowns and 319 yards of total offense. "He did exactly what he was supposed to do," said Interim Head football Coach Dennis Winston. "He was the little field general for us on Saturday and there is one thing about Johnathan, he's not afraid of anything.

Williams, who hails from Tampa, Florida, gave the Grambling homecoming crowd of nearly 14,000 fans, a great show. He was 18 of 31 passing for 265 yards and 5 touchdowns through the air. Williams hurt the Delta Devils with his legs as well, as he rushed 15 times for 54 yards and two touchdowns. "I just thank God and my teammates," said Williams. "I just wanted to go out there and do my best and take advantage of this opportunity."

Williams has also earned the CollegeFootballPerfromance.com Award. He was ranked in the top 20 performances at quarterback in the entire Football Championship Subdivision. He was also named as the top quarterback in the SWAC by the CFPA.
