GRAMBLING, La (June 10, 2013) – The long line of baseball players drafted into Major League Baseball (MLB) from Grambling State University continues as
Cory Jordan was drafted in the 35th round by the Tampa Bay Rays this past weekend.
For Head Coach Cooper this is another first. “This is the first pitcher that that has been drafted under my tenure as Head Coach here at Grambling,” said Coach Cooper.” “We are extremely proud of Cory and he now has the opportunity to prove himself at the next level.”
Cory Jordan finished the 2013 campaign at GSU with a 2-3 record and a 4.32 ERA. Jordan also had two saves on the season for the Tigers and 27 strikeouts.
Over 1200 players were taken in the 2013 draft. According to the Bleacher Report Jordan's future team was given a B+ for the talent that they signed.
