GSU’s LaQuisha Woods Named SWAC Hitter of the Year

HATTIESBURG, MS – GSU’s LaQuisha Woods has been named 2009 SWAC Hitter of the Year as released by the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The sophomore slugger has posted a .411 batting average, including 2 home runs, 12 doubles and 30 RBIs. She led the Lady Tigers to a second place finish in the SWAC’s Western Division

GSU Softball Bids Adieu to Three Seniors

GRAMBLING, LA – The Lady Tigers celebrated “Senior Day” capping off a 3-0 series sweep over Prairie View A&M University. The seniors were recognized during a small ceremony in between games of Saturday’s double-header. The team bid goodbyes to starters Takeia Edwards (1B), Chae’wayla Jackson (CF), and Denean Woods (2B).

GSU Softball Swept By Southern

BATON ROUGE, LA – The GSU Lady Tigers traveled to Baton Rouge, LA to take on Southern University in a battle for first place in the SWAC’s Western Division. SU defeated the Lady Tigers 10-4 on day 1, then 5-4 and 11-2 on day 2 of the series. The losses drop Grambling to 6-20 this season.
